I was at Anthropologie not to long ago and saw this necklace
My friend and I were playing the guess the price game. You know the one? You try to guess how much it is, you guess way high and it ends up being even more than your guess, even when you thought your guess was already a ridiculous price. I think I guessed like $80 and it was $90-95! At that moment I said,"You've got to be kidding me, what are those, real crystals?" Yes, there were little crystal looking rocks in there and I bet you they were real. The only other things inside were mossy grass and little rocks. To me that shouldn't cost you $90 plus dollars.
Enter thrifty girl! (That's me in case you were wondering)!
First thrifty item: I found these little vials at Hobby Lobby two for $1.47! So much cheaper!
Hailey and I are now pleased to take you on our necklace making scavenger hunt! Ignore the accents, we know we are terrible, but we were having fun.
2nd thrifty item: nature= free!
We got home and put our pebbles, seeds, grains, and other naturey item in our vials. We even added some glitter!
3rd thrifty item: Hailey had a bunch of broken chains that we resurrected for this project. We fixed them up added our vials and a little pearl for looks.
* Life saving advice: Glue the cork to the glass and the screw into the cork. We may or may not have experienced the consequences from not doing this.
I sent my students on a scavenger hunt around the school to find my missing vial (which was sitting under the table in the classroom, unharmed, thank goodness.
Hailey was a little less fortunate. She had hers fall and shatter on the tile floor at work. Traumatic yes, end of the world, no. She collected all her little treasures and made a new one.
We love our thrifty nature filled necklaces!
